Hi Al,
I understand you, but....
on the antarctic reflector, in the past many
have complaint not to get cards from Argentina.
They send twice and third... email - nothing
I got ALL my QSLs without sending twice. Okay-
I send all my letters registered.
So I was just a lucky guy many times - and antarctic DX is as
hard as IOTA chasing for me - even as SWL!
What I wanted to say is, if we say "that
Ham is a $-collector", we say this without really
knowing. So we speak bad about someone who
might not be bad because he can only talk about
the letters he got but not about the letters
he had never got...
Of course I'm a little bit angry too when I hear
that my letter has never reached his target.
But this is not the debt of the QSL-manager.
And as I said before: I got a confirmation from
Xavier in earlier days. So I know he replies to
QSLs and - in this case - I really think that my
letter got lost on the postal way to him.
Congrates to your 600 IOTA! Well done!
Take care Al, and MERRY X-MAS again.

Hi Andreas, well I have heard from other hams on reflector. I know that
ail service in Brazil is bad.
mailed Ciro sase June and again in Sept (when I saw his qsl recived
eported in newsletters). Still no answer. Bottom line is that 2
onths after oqrs, 1 month and 3 emails (which he did not answer) after
e said he mailed my QSL I do NOT have it. My reflector posting resulted
n 2 yes
nd about 8-10 NO even via oqrs! It also got ciro to answer my emails. I
ill not get
QSL from him because he said he is obviously mad said he is returning
y $$ via paypal. I told him it wasnt the $$ but I need the
sl to get my 600 island award. So my conclusion is that after $4 in
ostage, 2IRC + $ via oqrs I got no qsl. I will not accuse anyone
f being a $$ collector but what am I to conclude after my expeerience. I
now mail is bad - but 3 times from same place? even in this country
t is getting bad! 6 months is about all I can tolerate waiting for a
SL. Everyone in IOTA knows they like to get the QSL's soon for count but
ind that the IOTA QSL's are about the worst/hardest to get in my
xperience... tnx for the info..
I wish you good luck Andreas. Even if I spend USD $10 for registered I'm
lmost certain Ciro will not reply aftett this...I have come to
onclusion that
t is waste of time to work PY or send QSL's to Brazil. I know even
egistered is not safe because I one PY ham
aid he got my registered sase opened with nothing in it!! I'm not
ngry. But ham radio today is not what it used to be. I have
ad more $$ collectors who do not qsl than I can shake a stick at! Good
uck and Merry Xmas and happy 2011 73 al W3AWU

Hi Al,
I have send PX8J together with PX8L at end June to:
Cicero X. Silva, P.O. Box 152, 58010-970 JOAO PESSOA PB, BRAZIL
It's always sad if your letters do not reach the one it should. But
you
can't do much against mail thiefs. I will resend in Jan 2011 -
registered.
No other chance I believe.
Don't be angry. Life is too short.
Wish you and your family MERRY X-MAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Take care,
