Good that you have the contact. Masa should be retired from the JA Coast
Guard by now and back in JA Land. The main purpose for people to be on
Marcus was for the LORAN Station. When the U.S. Coast Guard operated the
LORAN Stations I would fly there monthly on USCG C-130 Hercules to bring in
supplies. Got to visit many rare IOTA locations such as Yap, Iwo Jima,
Palau, Ulithi, Johnston, Kure, Kwaj, Midway, etc. There was a link to a
picture of him in uniform at the operation desk of the ham station. It
looked the same as it did when I would operate from there in the 1970's
except the Collins KWM-2, 30L1 amp, etc, had been replaced with JA ham gear.
Even the sign on the wall, MARCUS ISLD LORAN, was the same.
