Jack:
All the advice and info you have been given so far is correct, but a few details are missing that you might want to know about.
1. You design your own card using digital image files you can send them. They designed my card for me as I was having trouble getting their card design s/w to run on my computer. I have 2 calls (old and new) and have a card for each one. If you grow tired of your QSL card design, you can always do another one to replace it later on. There is one card design for each call sign you have.
2. When you want to send someone a card via the bureau, you can download an ADIF file with the info, or manually enter each one. The card goes to the QSL manager you enter into your ADIF file for the QSO.
3. The cards do not always go out right away, but are in a queue for when they are ready to send cards to a particular country or bureau, and they then print out all the cards in the queue and send them on. The return card (and hopefully you get one) will normally come through the conventional ARRL bureau since you are not able to provide an envelope and return postage. They post the status of every card you enter and want to send out.
I have been using Global QSL for a couple of years now and love it.
I sent them digital image files of pictures I had taken from my house and then worked with them via email to finalize the design. They print the outgoing QSL log info in the top area of the backside of the card design and then mail them out to the various bureaus. Global QSL is located in Israel, but they are very cooperative via email and always get back to you right away. I tried to send this email with pictures of the card front and back, and it bounced using the email address you provided (k4wsb at arrl.net). If you provide me with a working email address, I can send it to you.
