Just as a balancing act, remember that the bureau can be amazingly fast on some cards - as long as all the actors are in line. I think in January 2009 I was receiving QSLs from the WAE CW (August 2008) and even the CQWW SSB (October 2008). 3 months one way via the bureau does happen...
