Bernie,
>From QSL bureau perspecive, I can re-iterrate the
importance of first sorter duty.
Namely the first sorter decides which way to
direct QSL received from the individual.
- To the operator's bureau
- to the manager
- to the bureau of the manager.
Following can happen:
A. Operator's bureua may not exist, or
operator never claims cards from that bureau
B. Goes to the manager if the manager has
the reputation of answereing via Bureau.
C. First sorter may not be checking for the manager
unless the sender provides this information.
I usually place the QSLs in the box for
the bureau and check managers when getting
ready to send to the bureau (cca 6+ months)
D. Missorting (wrong box). Sends to wrong
bureau either operator's or manager's.
E. It is now left to the mercy of the
receiving bureau: resend it to the right
bureau, return it, or destroy it.
F. It is also left to the mercy of the incoming
bureau, to destroy non-claim cards, or return.
Now mishaps can happen multiple times, and in
the end QSLs may reach its destination years later
If not destroyed along the way.

Subject: [Dx-qsl] Murphy lives on! hihi
Hi, Got an E mail from a VK, Australian Ham yesterday.
Sez he received my QSL card today for a 1991 QSO!!! . I believe I sent
it in
1992 , 17 years ago, WOW!!!
When not receiving my first request direct to Zimbabwe , in what I
conceived had been some time I resent to different call.
Also said he was not the mgr(my error) for the Zimbabwe station. I had
worked.
Checking my shoe box showed, I had received the QSL Card for 2 QSO's a
long long time ago direct from Operator!
Guess we can beat Murphy sometimes, but beating the mail delivery is
another story 73, keep the faith, Bernie/WO2N.>
