[Dx-qsl] Importing LOTW award matrix into Excel

Joe,

I've been doing this since LOTW came out.

Basically, you high-light the whole matrix in the browser - then you open
Excel and past it from cell A1. You'll find that - since it pastes HTML -
it's pretty ugly to manipulate. So, high-light the entire sheet (by
clicking the cell AND row button to the upper left of cell A1), select
copy... go to a NEW sheet and "Paste Special" and select "Paste Values".

Once you've done this, it gets rid of the HTML markings and makes the entire
sheet easier to work with. I generally get rid of the extra row that's left
at the top and add filters. POWERFUL. Adding filters gives you the ability
to do cool things to match up your LOTW data with your LW data. For example
- if LOTW says you've worked 230 countries on 15m, you filter the 15m column
showing only the "X" values. Compare that to your LW report for 15m
countries submitted.

I also sent a note to the reflector recently where I provided an Excel tool
for "balancing your LOTW account to your LW data".

Subject: [Dx-qsl] Importing LOTW award matrix into Excel

What's the best way to import LOTW's DXCC award matrix into Excel? I was
looking at it today and clicked the right mouse button for laughs. There
was an item labeled "Export to Microsoft Excel". Well, it didn't work. I
got a message saying press OK, then edit the query facility then try again.
Well, I did that and it goes back to telling me to press OK, edit the query
facility, etc....typical Microsoft.

Does anybody have a good technique to download this data?
