As many others, I've sent some QSL requests to UA4WHX. Apparently it was
quite long ago and the older style IRCs were enclosed. As time goes, it
turned to be clear that my IRCs became obsolete. I was just waiting for a
proper moment to send another request. But...
There came an E-Mail message from a sort of QSL agent of UA4WHX. He has
confirmed receipt of several cards from me and stated that my IRCs are not
valid anymore. As a solution he proposed me to add my cards to a package
prepared for another Ottawa amateur. I opted not to go for that because I
did not want to put my Ottawa neighbour into postal risk with a larger
package. Then some more E-Mail exchange followed. To make the long story
short, I have mailed him two more valid IRCs and E-Mailed him data of
several more QSOs not listed on my previous cards. As a result I have just
received two regular mail envelopes containing 10 cards giving me 4 new DXCC
bandslots and 3 new IOTAs for my two DXCC accounts.
Certainly I cannot resist to express my sincere appreciation to the UA4WHX
team for contacting me and trying to find a way to fulfill my QSL request.
It is indeed a kind gesture which deserves a special attention.
I have heard of initiatives to eventually initiate a relation between UA4WHX
and the DX Hall of Fame. If I was the one who can vote for that, for
numerous reasons I would certalinly add my Aye...
For those interested, the package contained a card for the 9X African
activity.
