The Australian government postal web site says that a letter to the US costs 
$1.75 Australian (for up to 50 grams - figure that would do it ?).  The 
current exchange rate makes that $1.57 US.  And this is separate from the 
issue of not responding to bureau cards.  I totally agree with your decision 
to work someone else.  Wish I could get people to help pay for MY vacation. 
I'll bet I know who the VK is.  Too bad that reflector protocol prevents 
outing people like this.
