Ron:
I think it was good that this topic came out again and that there was vigorous discussion. It is, as you say, "Pending". Each new discussion stirs the passions, but also almost always brings forward some new person or information relative to this topic. The only problem is that DXCC hasn't participated in our dicscussions. Perhaps they are tired of having this raised again and again. I also think we have gone the course on this and it is time to put it to bed once again for a rest before we resurrect it again (and it will happen).
I wanted to comment that my last email may have been interpreted to have included a "slam" at Bernie. It definitley was not intended to. I think Bernie is a terrific guy. I like his column, and think his DailyDX.Com newsletter is a help to many DX advocates. The fact that he periodically does DxPeditions, endears him to me all the more. We need more people like him in our great hobby.
He has put himself in a public position via his column, his DX newsletter, and his employment with the ARRL. When he speaks pro or con on an issue, many will view it in the context of his professional involvements. If Bernie disagreed with DXCC on this issue, I am sure he would never come out in print with that position, and I understand why. I would do the same in his position.
I did make what was supposed to be humorous editorializing of his sales theme "Now more than ever, You need the Daily Dx Bulletin" because I don't think it should accompany his email participation in a discussion of this type. It is commercialism and I don't think it is appropriate to do that. I have other professional activities and interests and I don't use the end of my emails to advertise them. I think that is the way things should be done.
So what's the next topic. My keyboard is warm and ready to go.
Thanks for your indulgence, and for sharing your opinions.
