Many folks outside the States may not be aware that the US Treasury 
Dept has long wanted to get rid of $1 bills in favor of coins - but 
Americans have made it very clear they don't like the idea. $1 coins 
are extremely unpopular, and get little use here.

But Treasury won't give up. A new campaign is just starting with $1 
coins carrying the images of our most famous presidents. Let's hope 
it's equally unsuccessful. What would we do without our "Green 
Stamps"!
