[Dx-qsl] Want some new IRC's

I also live in a small town (population about 1,100), and I've had trouble
getting IRC's from the post office for years. For years our postmaster
refused to even look into the matter, saying that they were
"unavailable". Then, after he retired, we had a string of different,
temporary postmasters, none of whom had any clue what an IRC was, nor were
they inclined to find out or to try and obtain any for me.

Finally, we got another new postmaster - a postmistress this time. She has
been very helpful. She actually took the time to find out what I was
talking about (after I explained it to her) and by searching the P.O.
regulations, found out how they were used, how to issue them, and most
importantly, how to get them for me. She does not stock them, but any time
I see I am about to need some I simply ask her to order me some quantity
(usually 10 at a time), and in a few days there's a note in my mailbox
letting me know they have come in.

So, don't let a lazy postal employee tell you that IRC's are
"unavailable". It usually just means they don't know what they are and
don't want to go to the trouble to find out and help you.

Be persistent. Don't be put off. Competent postal service is not a
privilege, it's a right.
