After 4 attempts (IRC, green stamps, etc.), and knowing that the problem was
NOT with Halim, I decided to send my final attempt using registered mail on
July 8 and green stamps (I was not able to do the 'reciprocal postage'
option which has worked so fabulously for me on so many other occasions
through Bill Plum's service.) Estimated delivery time to the recipient was
30 calendar days, according to my local USPS office. Well, I was overjoyed
to receive the YB1A card this week.

I recommend using this registered mail option from US, but as a last resort.
It was $15 for me to do this option, but it was my final try and paid off.
I can't do this for every QSL, but for new ones I will try it if my initial
attempt fails.

Some interesting background: the QSO was on New Years Eve 2005, 40 meter CW,
huge pileup, LONG PATH from North Carolina, and I was running 100 watts to a
Cushcraft MA8040V wrapped in black electrical tape (stealth) and attached to
a bradford pear tree with 4 radials for 40. Definitely not an ideal
scenario, but after 45 minutes I made it through. Halim is a superb
operator! BTW, His call is now YB1HLP.
