I've always had great luck between the UK and NJ/NY. My in-laws are 
in north London and I've gotten things in 3 days from them, too. Best 
was posted at 4:30 pm GMT Thursday in London, received at 8:30 am 
Eastern time on Saturday. That one blew me away. And what's scarier 
still, is a first-class letter sent between NY and Toronto, Canada, 
usually takes 7 to 10 days! Canada Post and their Finest Turtles, I suppose....
