Actually, I don't think it's "crap" at all...I think N4NW is correct.   It 
woulkdn't suprise me if the 3Y0X cards were sent out first to those who 
included a contribution with their QSL request.  I think it's even possible 
that those that contributed received a different, nicer QSL card. And I'm 
sure that those who didn't send anything with their request will still get a 
card, after those who are helping to foot the bills are taken care of.

IMHO, if this is true, it's a terrific fund-raising idea which major 
DXpeditions can use to incentivize contributions and help defray the 
enormous costs of giving the Deserving a New One. It's not the same as 
"paying for a card" if a card is sent in any case.... it's simply paying for 
a faster and maybe a nicer card. We need more intrepid adventurers 
undertaking DXpeditions to rare and exotic DXCC entities, and maybe this 
approach will help to make it more affordable. But I think it might work 
better if it were publicized in advance.
