In the late '60s, IRCs sold for $0.15 at the post office. But in those 
days a single IRC was only good for a reply by surface mail. For 
airmail, you had to send more than one. There was a chart in the front 
of the Callbook which said how many IRCs were needed for an airmail 
reply from each country. Usually it was 2 or 3, but a few countries were 
as high as 7. At that time the overseas airmail varied by destination. 
It was $0.10 to South America, $0.15 to Europe, and $0.25 to Asia, 
Africa, and the Pacific.

Even in those days, IRCs were being re-cycled by QSL managers. I kept 
one that was stamped in 1956 at which time they were selling for $0.13 
at the post office.
