This comment may or may not be specifically relevant to Stu's situation but
DARC has a couple of certificate programs based on QSOs per year and I think
QSL cards are required. There may be other sponsors with similar
certificate programs.
This might be a reason why some DXers would like to receive QSLs for same
band/mode contacts made in different years.

Subject: [Dx-qsl] duplicate bureau cards
Hello:
I'm going through a stack of received bureau cards, mostly from contest
operations. I'm more than happy to receive all these cards, and I lovingly
examine them and file them in order. I do however receive MANY bureau cards
from Europe that have obviously been sent in a mass printing dump, for the
same band and mode that I have QSLed before - some are even handwritten.
I've taken to checking in my logging program DXbase to see whether I've
QSLed them before on that band mode, and then I ignore the second request.
But then I've wondered if by some circumstance they needed another card for
some other reason - I just now looked at a QSL from IK2VFW - ""From fire
destruction pse QSL again 73". I'll answer this one ! Fausto I hope you
and your family are OK !
I have 55,000 QSLs over 37 years and still expanding - not as many as K3ZO I
don't think !
