Third time's the charm!  This time the postal machines enroute failed to shred the envelope and a very nice card finally got here.  My thanks to Gerd for his patience and persistance!

And FWIW, after the previous attempt (in which I got a shreded envelope) I talked with some people down at the local Post Office.  They indicated that it's not all that unusual anymore, at least from what they've seen, to see the light-weight air envelopes arrive shredded.  Apparantly some of the handling machinery along the way (of course, they insist none of which belong to the USPS... no comment...) are set for "standard" weight envelopes, and when the flimsies come their way, they get torn apart.  Lovely, isn't it?
