Here's an actual example of what Steve is talking about.

A certain JA and I are interested in an unusual propagation path, and 
we look for one another whenever that path might be open. He then 
sends me a separate QSL for every QSO. Same band, same mode, similar 
time, etc. At first I replied to each one, but I must admit that I 
stopped doing that quite a while back.
