Hi guys,

This may be a bit off the reflector topic,
but I thought it was important enough to send around.

It seems the ARRL is thinking of dropping the
'DXCC Annual List' from the DXCC Yearbook,
starting IMMEDIATELY (i.e. it won't be in the 2004 YB).

Below I have attached the letter I sent yesterday
to Bill Moore, and I copied Jim Haynie. I urge you
to write the DXCC desk yourself. I also attached
the excerpt from Friday's ARRL Letter.

I mean, why are we all doing this if we're not
gonna see our calls in print in the standings??? :-)

Dear Bill,

I was very sad to read this in today's ARRL Letter.

Perhaps some people at HQ have missed the point.
I, for one, WANT to 'see my name in print' in the
DXCC Yearbook every year. It's been fun to watch
my progress year-to-year against my buddies.
It fosters a competitive spirit. Viewing the
real time stats on the Web is NOT the same.

The Annual List is an important part of the DXCC Yearbook.
I don't want to see 'highlights'.

Considering the fact that we DXers pay for the Yearbook
through our awards fees, why was the ARRL DX community
not asked our opinion on this? Was it cost? I'd gladly
pay a nominal fee for the Yearbook to keep the Annual List.

I sincerely hope it's not too late to reconsider this.
I guess it's good to see real-time standings, but it's
just not the same as being able to pull out the DXCC Yearbook
from 5 years ago and reminisce.
