Was it returned by the US post or the German Post. If the first...I've found often the person didn't see GERMANY......even though it is on the envelope.....I find that it works to simply mail it again (take to a post office and you won't have to pay the postage again). If it was the German post.....then you probably do have to search the address...or try again.
