[Dx-qsl] QSL Buro Statistics

Hello All,
Given some of the recent discussions about the buro, I thought I'd compile
some real world statistics. I sort the "S" cards for the W9 buro. The
following stat's are based on cards that came to me during the first quarter
of 2003, that will be mailed to the op's this week. The "date" used is the
QSO date indicated on the card.
The sample cards were picked at random. So the results would represent
"typical" buro cards, I eliminated cards from QSL services (WF5E) and cards
for QSL managers or other DX operations (i.e. VU4/WA9YYY etc.). Sample was
311 cards.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a statistics guru. This is a small sample of one
bureau, your mileage may vary.
QSO DATE # CARDS %
Pre-1993 2 .64
1994 1 .32
1995 4 1.29
1996 1 .32
1997 1 .32
1998 1 .32
1999 17 5.47
2000 12 3.86
1Q2001 6 1.93
2Q2001 10 3.22
3Q2001 11 3.54
4Q2001 43 13.83 (Total for 2001 = 70 / 22.51%)
1Q2002 83 26.69
2Q2002 17 5.47
3Q2002 67 21.54
4Q2002!! 35 11.25 (Total for 2002 = 202 / 64.95%)

So, based on this unscientific sample, it looks like 2/3 of buro cards take
one year or less, another 22% take 2 years or less, and the rest are
anybody's guess.
Again, these results will vary depending on which buro's we receive cards
from in a particular month and other factors too numerous to list.
Food for thought....
