An update from VR2BG himself, seeing how you lot have been talking about me
again! ;^)

Last week saw what should be the last of the weekly travel for work that
has had
me away from home almost every week for the past two years.

The place I used to work, the department I worked in & many of my colleagues in
that department are no more, or in other words, I guess I'm lucky to still be
gainfully employed.

My office is now a short ferry ride from the GPO, which means much more
frequent
clearing of my CBA. Speaking of POB 12727, HK Post didn't ask me to pay the
renewal this year & when I asked about it, they said they "closed" the
box. Last
year, they sent me a renewal notice, but being away I could not pay in time, so
they really closed it (meaning mail sent to it was returned to sender). I
think this
time no mail was rejected, but if anyone has experienced this, it's safe to
send it
again.

A word about registered mail: please don't send things to me registered, as
under
UPU rules it must be returned after 14 days if unclaimed & even under my
current
situation, I may not always be able to collect it in time. If you are
concerned about
things going on walkabout, contact me first. The HK Post may cock up box
renewals sometimes, but they do a bloody good job of getting mail to me if it
manages to be put on a plane to HK - but they won't bend UPU regulations.

The change at work forced a move of QTH in December, which was a nightmare as
I had been in the previous house for something like seven years. I have
not been
able to unpack much of anything & now that I'm home for a while, finding
the box
the removal company packed all the cards which were ready to process at the old
flat is a top priority (this has been mentioned to the YL so she can nag me
about it).

Once found, I will blow through the queue rather quickly.

I also have a new printer, which hopefully will allow me to turn loose the
bureau card
batch routines in my homebrew logging program. I've migrated from labels
to printing
directly on the cards, but paper feeding problems have forced manually
feeding cards
one at a time, so the bureau batches have been waiting for a solution to
this problem.

As I think I've mentioned here before & I must thank the folks who recently
weighed
in with their positive comments, getting folks their cards is important at
VR2BG. I
will go to great lengths to figure out why I can't when I can't find you in
my log when
I reply to a card, as well as trying to address grumbles in public,
provided they aren't
too nasty. If you have any concern about QSLs from me, please contact me
directly - I'll try to see you right.

I apologize with the delay & hope folks can hang in there a bit longer. As
always,
all contacts in the log when I reply are confirmed & your contact -
especially in
contests - is greatly appreciated.

I gladly accept requests for more than one of my calls from more than one
station in
one envelope. An SAE & something to cover return postage is appreciated -
I can
get quite a few of my cards out under 10g, provided your SAE isn't too heavy.
