[Dx-qsl] QSL MANAGER BASHING

I thought I must have subscribed to a new reflector
the QSL MANAGER BASHING reflector, but it wasn't.
This is really the DX-QSL reflector, although nobody
can recognize it as such.

Amateur radio truly has something for everyone with
two very active categories: Qsl Manager Bashing and
the time honored Band Police. Would not surprise me
if participants of either are members of both!

It seems to me that Band Policing( the practice of
intentionally interfering with Dx operations without
using your call sign) and Qsl Manager Bashing ( the
practice of publicly declaring a Qsl manager to be
incompetent because you failed to follow qsling
instructions usually) all got started with the new
thing at the time called DX PACKET CLUSTERS. With the
Internet, Bashers now have a much wider forum.
It is unfortunate that people resort to Bashing especially
when they don't know all the facts, circumstances, etc.

I have been told by six Qsl Managers that at the end of
the 2003 year, they will not act as a Manager for anyone
ever again. This will leave at a minimum 600 DX stations
without a manager. Most of these station are without
internet access and do not have working Bureaus. Getting
cards from these stations, mostly rare ones, will be next
to impossible and at best expensive. You can thank this
reflector, DX Clusters and the QSL Bashing for this outcome.
These managers told me that spending all the time and money
to give DXers a means to confirm contacts with their stations
does not seem to be appreciated and they can make better use
of this time spending it with their families, or playing
radio. They told me that most of the DX stations they manage could
care less about Qsling and would probably not spend the money
nor take the time to Qsl. Getting logs from many of these
stations is a chore at best.

I expect this trend to continue and soon DXers will not have
the Qsl Manager service to Bash, as it will be a thing of the
past.

Just think, if W3HNK, KU9C, WA3HUP, F6FNU, VE3HO all quit as
managers, most of the DXpeditions would be without Qsl manager
service. If this is what you want, just say so. This will let
these fine folks do things with this time that they put off to
do a CHORE for you. THINK ABOUT IT!!
