[Dx-qsl] Aves Island? Rotuma Island?

I guess sometimes we have to give up and try to work
it again. That is frustrating, but sometimes
necessary. I have tried for 15 years to get a QSL
from 6Y5NR for 6Y5NR/KP1 on 15 meters. Sent card
after card with IRCs, dollars, etc. Never hear back
from him, ever. Even tried recently because I saw
someone give his address recently saying that he had
answered a QSL request for some operation. I give up,
though. He can keep my money and enjoy a nice dinner
with it.
The story does have a fairly happy ending. In 1993 I
turned on the old SB102 and heard a station giving out
599 reports. Dropped in my call, and it turned out to
be NF6S/KP1, on 20 CW. Not bad for a SB102 and indoor
dipole. Got his card no problem. Still don't have
KP1 QSL on 15 meters, but do have one on CW now.
Rotuma is fairly common recently, as I have worked it
on a couple of different bands in the last couple of
years. Still waiting for AVES to come on the air to
close out north america.
Ebay has feedback. Maybe we need to start a QSL
manager feedback area so we know whether to spend time
and money sending the QSL or not.
