Hi,

This is N5PHT, Gary, writing from Savoy, Texas. I am a bit perplexed by a QSL I received today and seek advice. I worked a Croatia ham, rather not say his callsign here in 'public' and this was on 40 meter CW back on 1 Jan 2003. I am very picky about logging stations and I believe it was a good qso on my part.

I did not receive a reply to my qsl and sae and $2 so I sent an email recently to inquire. Well, today I received a completed and confirmed qsl from the 9A op for my 40 mtr CW qso. BUT, that is not the end of story. The op included a hand written note saying (his words):

- - - - - - - -
My Friend Gary,

Sory ur qso not is in my log. (he then lists three stations logged about the same time - none of which are mine).

HA HNY ('happy new year' if I recall) contes - ur call not is in contest log.

Pse ur qsl for 1,8 MHz for my ok?

- - - - - - - - -

Well, it is obvious he is trying to get a 160 mtr confirmation from me. (I have never worked a station in Europe on 160 meters). I have only a few qsos logged on 160 with my 40 meter dipole and tuner!

So, when he tells me I am not in log but gives me the completed qsl anyway and then asks for a bogus 160 meter qsl am I to assume he really does not have me in his log for 40 CW and he thinks 'scratch my back and i'll scratch yours' will apply?

Well - probably the best thing to do is to trash the whole thing and hope this op learns one day that awards cheated for are worthless!!

Any ideas?

ALSO - if you have read this far and you are a 9A ham and have 40 meter CW capability I would appreciate a try for a schedule?? I only use a dipole but would love to try as it appears I can't keep this confirmation in good consious and therefore still need 9A on 40 meter CW hi hi.
