You know, the thing that really bothers me is that there is the
possibility that Mr. Monk Apollo might possibly be reading some of these
opinions and feelings expressed on this site. If he is, he has to
wondering what he is doing in a hobby filled with people who think and
comment like this. He is after all, a human being with feelings like the
rest of us. I am sure he had nothing with Mt . Athos being established as
a separate DXCC country in the first place, but he has been an active
amateur radio operator trying to put a new one in your shoebox for quite
a while. You may not agree with his speed of QSLing, his schedule of
operation, or whether he truthfully has a broken rig or not. I am sure
that this is the truth, and I don't hear any begging on his part for
someone to send him one out of sympathy for his situation. It is probably
appropriate that this be done, given his station in life, and there are
probably many who could afford such generousity. The comments you have
read about him and his situation have come from sources other than the
man himself, and perhaps some of it has been unintentionally embellished
or distorted.  I am fortunate enough to have SV/A confirmed so it is not
out of personal selfishness that I hope that he somehow continues to be
an active and contributing member of our hobby.
