Steve,

With the further decline in QSL bureau business, caused by reasons
quoted earlier on this list, there will be more direct requests
with multiple cards.

In particular, overseas stations would like to take advantage to cut
costs by sending more than one card in a single mailing. In some cases
they even syndicate and send multiple requests of multiple stations,
for various manager's clients.

This will pose a particlular stress on managers, that now have to handle
variety of sitations, in addition to their normal paper work. Just to
name a few:

1. Time consumption, specially for paper logs (you just explained)

2. Insufficient postage (how to chose what to partially confirm first)

3. Some logs are available, some not (return the original cards
with recommendation when to re-send). In my oppinion this is better
than waiting for all logs to arrive.

4. Some QSL cards not printed (same as three).

5. No return postage at all. The bureau return is obvious, but would
it have the same priority as those who were received by the bureau?

......

I am pretty much sure you can add more situations, but multiple cards
are going to become rule, rather than exception.

P.S. Rod's tatistics, derived for direct requests, perfectly fits to
my bureau statistics, also published on this list. Except I start
     from 417 days onwards.
