The following is meant to be light-hearted:
side note: A few months ago I decided on two new
goals in my ham radio hobby: DXCC on CW and DXCC on
40 meters (On other bands combined I have 325 mixed -
all confirmed except last years Pratas - coming soon I
hope). Well, I am now at about $200 expense (a little
more if I am honest) and have 66 confirmed (of 175
worked) on CW. I have also 66 (just a coincidence)
confirmed (not the same 66) on 40 meters (with 126
worked). And I have experienced many really good
qsl'ers. I routinely put an SAE and $2 for return
postage. I have gotten many returned in 3 to 4 weeks
and some quicker. I am getting 1 - 5 cards just about
daily and that is great. However, is it really worth
$3 or so total expense for dxcc per entity? I try not
to think about that too much! I really am happy when
I get a 40 meter CW confirmed because it kills two
goals with one!
Well, I made my own choices to pursue this expense but
I will be very happy when logbook of the world is
available! :-) After this 40 meter dxcc and cw dxcc
goal then comes 80 meters dxcc as my next goal (then I
will have 5bdxcc) and maybe the new system will be in
effect. I don't have an 80 meter antenna up yet...
:-)
I have made a few contacts on 80 and even 160 with my
40 meter dipole - but that is tricky.
Happy dx'ing friends and 'happy' qsl'ing...
Thanks for listening to my rambling.
