[Dx-qsl] E-QSL

Be very, very careful when you unsubscribe from eQSL.

When they started their policy of selling QSL cards based on the uploaded
logs, I inquired how to remove my logs from the system. (I simply do not
wish them to act as my QSL manager, which is what that amounts to). I was
told to unsubscribe, and almost did... until I realized that unsubscribing
does NOT remove your logs. You must do that first, otherwise, you lose all
control of them. Nor am I certain if you get your "old" logs back if you
resubscribe as yourself in the future... or what happens if someone else
decides, after you unsubscribe, to subscribe themselves under your call.

You know, it's a shame. Electronic log confirmation and electronic QSL's
have a great potential, now and in the future, for those who choose to use
them. I'm just not sure that eQSL.cc will be the way to do it in the long
term. (Anyone know what happened to some of the early eQSL rivals? I know
there was a VQSL for awhile...)

"I want to unsubscribe or delete my registration Please do
not unsubscribe just because you have a new callsign. We
need to keep the logs from your old callsign in our
database. But if you want to unsubscribe, we are sorry to
see you go. Go to My Profile and look for the big red
button at the bottom of the screen."
