[Dx-qsl] DX Mail Unsealed

The customs officials of some countries still require that all outgoing
international mail be left unsealed so that it can be inspected by postal
customs officials for contraband (mostly currency).

That means that your mail to these countries stands a good chance of
getting opened by postal customs officials before it gets to the addressee.
If your mail gets opened by a corrupt official, and there are IRC's or
greenbacks enclosed, the DX station will not get it, and you will probably
not get a direct QSL back as well. International postage affixed to return
envelopes is the best way to go.

I have received mail from DX with the flap sealed but with the bottom right
corner of the envelope snipped off and my QSL card showing. The corner
of the envelope was snipped off by the sender so that postal customs
officials could peek inside.

Getting unsealed mail from DX was really prevalent 20 - 30 years ago.
