That's not AOL's fault. I sent my message to you and a copy to the 
list. You saw the direct mail and also the list message.

The same thing happened with John's mail. He sent one to you, one to 
me and one to the list, so you and I each got two copies.

To anyone else who reads my mail and sends a reply: if you're going 
to send one to the list, you _don't_ need to also send one to me. My 
mail client runs all day, checking the server every 15 minutes. Any 
mail I receive, be it mailing list or direct, is here very shortly 
after it's sent. If it's on the list, I _will_ see it. You don't need 
to double up. Save the bandwidth.
