Hi Carl:

Let me see if I have this straight. Please tell me where I'm wrong, I would
appreciate it.

If I'm not mistaken, these reflectors do not allow attachments or any HTML for
that matter. You can't get a virus from reading a posting on a reflector, at
least not this one or any others I am familiar with. I couldn't comment on the
1000mp reflector as I have never seen it. Most viruses require you to activate
an .exe file attachment or equivalent file extensions, and must be double
clicked before any damage can be done. Are you saying that this reflector
allowed such an attachment? I don't think so.

Why in the world would the reflector make such a demand on subscribers as to
make it mandatory to have anti-virus programs for out going mail, to protect
you? Do you think 18,000 people are going to go and buy the program because
you will not install one for your incoming mail? And even so, how could the
reflector check to make sure each subscriber had such a program?? You have to
come up with better suggestions than that I think Carl.

The second thing I suggest you consider, is that this is a reflector that is
made available to you FOR FREE. NO COST. NADDA. Still you seem to think it
should be the responsibility of this reflector to put in safeguards on your
behalf. You must know that these reflectors cost money just to run, let alone
investing sums of money to protect 18,000 subscribers. There would be no funds
available even if it were feasible. If you haven't noticed, this reflector
survives on volunteer donations to survive.

It does get frustrating when you see several warnings about viruses, but they
are well intended. People are trying to help others. But the only way you
will avoid viruses is to BUY and INSTALL an Anti-virus program, and there are
several different programs available. Part with a few bucks, it's for your own
good, obviously.

Best of luck
Tru, VE6TP
