Before Airmail postage went to 60 cents, then 80, I used to use the 50 cent Adm. Chester Nimitz stamps because those were a brown drawing on a white background. Even though it was a "commemorative" stamp it was rather plain looking. If I was real particular about it
looking a plain as possible I'd use the postage meter in my office and even use a business envelope with our return address on the outside, like it was business mail. We always had samples of old advertising flyers we had mailed at one time, so I'd wrap it around the
QSL and really make it look plain vanilla.
