Hi Gary,
I don't know what your cards look like and being from California probably 
doesn't help, but I think most U.S. hams get at least 40-to-50 percent in 3 
years. Just the dx-peditions should run you that. You might try WF5E's QSL 
service. I've had excellent results using it.
