Every QSL card sent deserves the courtesy of a reply.

Should the card arrive be sent without an SAE & insufficient IRC's or green
stamps, or domestically a lack of an SASE, the station and/or manager are
well within their rights to send the card via the bureau.    Or even mark
the sent card "confirmed" and return it.

This is not by any means meant to justify not sending an SASE/SAE+IRC if you
really want the card in a hurry.  If you are unable or unwilling to do so,
then wait on the bureau.  And if that means that the amateur who sends an
SASE/SAE+IRC gets a four color photo card complete with details, and the
amateur who waits on the bureau gets the cheapest single color plain card
available from the printer... them's the breaks.

Personally, I'm amazed at the number of amateurs (worldwide) who boast of
the latest equipment available from Japan or Sevierville, multiple towers,
multiple beams, T-1 internet connections, etc., who send me a card pleading
poverty for the lack of an envelope & IRC.  Makes one wonder.

Hi There,

I just got back from Europe where I stayed at the QTH of a QSL manager.
While there I helped with the daily chore of replying to the QSL requests
for the many stations that are managed.
I was very disappointed to see that out of all the requests, that many USA
hams did not bother to send a return envelope
or any return postage. This QSL manager was kind enough to paid out of their
own pocket to reply. Of course there was a note
that no return envelope or postage was included and would be required for
any future QSL requests.
If it was up to me, the request would have been in the round file.

Please tell your HAM friends that QSLing is not free.
