You know, of course, that there once actually was a legitimate $3 bill.

No, it was never issued by the Federal Government; this goes back to the
days when banks printed their own currency (thus the phrase "bank notes.")
One bank... and I don't recall offhand which one, but I beleive it was in
New England... printed $3 notes.

No, it didn't picture a US President.  It pictured (I kid you not!) Santa
Claus.

A few examples of this bill still exist.  I was one once at acurrency
exhibit back in college.

Thomas Jefferson was the Third President of the United States.
Don't ask me how I came up with such a misconnection between the $2 bill and
being the Second President.
I was a History Major.

My wife was right, I guess I am as phony as the $3 bill.
