Regarding my question about Japanese 7-digit zipcodes
I got the following two answers from Japan, many thanks
JA1ADN and JG1OWV. It seems there is no problem if
you don't have the complete 7-digit zipcode. Merry Xmas
and a Happy New Year to you all.

No, not exactly. The mail will be deliverable without
7-digit zip-code unless correct address is given on envelope.
The most of the Japanese post office equipped with
automatic zip-code reading machine to sort every mail
to the nearest post office where to the addressee.=20
Even the post office worker can not read the address
written in Roman (English) letters but zip-code figures
are no problem to read.
So the foreign mail will be sorted to the nearest post
office by zip-code figures wothout any problem.=20

As the reason stated above, it is not true. But for your
good safety feelings, the zip-code is recommended.=20
Our post office published 14 milimeter thick individual
address to zip-code number reference chart throughout the
country.
By the way, my zip-code is 350-1103 for example, 350 shows
it is located in Saitama prefecture and 1103 is the post=20
office number where I live in City of Kawagoe.
My full mailing address is 14-4 Kasumi-Higashi 3 chome,
Kawagoe, Saitama 350-1103, Japan but it will be shortened=20
(simplified) as 14-4 Kasumi-Higashi 3 chome, 350-1103 Japan (!)
Hope this helps some of you out.
Wishing you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Hi Osten,
Good morning from Yokohama. It's very cold morning.

As far as I know, NO.
Using 7-digit code is encouraged but only recomended.
We're still using old 3 or 5 digit style very often.
Furthermore even WITHOUT ZIP CODE works very well if
you don't mind one day delivery delay.
Don't use your time finding 7-degit code, OM.
