[Dx-qsl] Help now or lose it

In the event that the DX QSL Reflector becomes inoperative because of the
financial difficulties at QSL.NET, I have created an alternative DX QSL
Reflector over on Yahoo.
The group name is also DXQSL (no space), and the home page can be viewed at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dxqsl. You should be able to join (if needed)
from that page. E-mail address for the reflector is [email protected]
While I sincerely hope that this step proves to be unneccesary (in which
case I will delete the group), I thought it a good idea to put a backup in
place while we still have the means to communicate the information.
Incidently, for those who don't know, W4AN is also crying poverty over the
eHam.net & contesting.com sites and related reflectors, so it is also
possible that those sites could disappear or radically change soon.
And FWIW, for personal reasons related to another set of classic radio
reflectors & web sites on his servers, K3TKJ shall be receiving no more
money out of my pocket. Not all of us who decline to further contribute are
cheap, er, thrifty... there are other reasons.

When asked "If you had been in President Clinton's place, would you have
resigned?",
Republican Member of the House of Representatives Dick Armey replied:
"If I were in the President's place, I would not have gotten a chance to
resign. I would be laying in a pool of my own blood, hearing Mrs. Armey
standing over me saying, "How do I reload this damn thing?"

Subject: [Dx-qsl] Help now or lose it
Folks,
I really hate to keep beating the same dead horse, but I was truly
stunned to learn a pitiful 500 hams (out of 200,000 US QSL.NET users) have
contributed to help keep QSL.NET viable with approximately $7,000 in
donations. That means that 99.75 %.of our subscribed have contributed
nothing, zilch, nada....
I am not going to ask for more of you to do the right thing, but
consider the words in an old Joni Mitchell song: "You don't know what you've
got till it's gone." I know hams are traditionally thrifty, but sending a
few bucks to keep something as valuable as QSL.NET is a pretty good
investment.
Don't think someone else is going to pay your share; they are busy thinking
the same thing about you.
