"Are e-QSLs really taking off, or is the e-QSL site just for guys who like
playing about with computers? Or who have a gulty conscience about not
sending cards out?"

Hi Tony. This question might have been better served at
[email protected]

I have been using and supporting eQSL for about 18 months, and have more
than 32,000 contacts there. About the only time I "play" with my computer is
when I am doing something amateur radio related, mostly contesting. Until
the political rhetoric that is currently going on at ARRL, IMHO, eQSL is
"just a place to exchange pictures"? I admit that when I first started using
eQSL, I was excited at the chance to "retrieve" a few of those that I have
yet to confirm by "traditional" means, but many of the "purists" (I had to
do it the hard way, why should you get to do it any different) are seeing to
it that eQSL may never be recognized by ARRL. It makes no sense that,
literally, millions of ecommerce dollars are exchanged via the Internet, yet
something as invaluable as an eQSL "picture" can't be accepted? I read many
of the posts of those that have sent multiple requests along with untold
amounts of $ or IRC's, and have yet to get a reply. The "purist regulated,
ego driven" award system in place, causes "sane people to do insase things"?
To me, that is the equivalent of "opening the door, and throwing ones money
to the wind"? I hope some of this makes sense, and, "no I don't have a
solution..I just try not to be part of the problem"!
Happy New Year
