Considering Jan's question, I thought the following excerpts posted on
another list would be of interest:
Please be advised that Alan Waller, K3TKJ, the owner of the qth.net/qsl.net
systems, is in the process of moving lists to a new server. This will NOT
all
happen at once. There is no cause for alarm or panic.

The first list to be moved is 'forsale-swap' list formerly at:
[email protected], is now at:
[email protected]
This is presently on a trial basis. Changes are necessary because of the
absolutely huge volume of spam and bounced mail posts coming into the system
daily. Alan Waller receives about 6,000 pieces daily. I receive from 300-500
daily myself. Which is why sometimes I do not get to your subscribe, mail
delivery difficulties and other issues as quickly as both of us would like.
<clip>
The note also mentions the massive problem caused by the recent bounces of
most @home.com addresses due to the problems and subsequent shut-down at
Excite@home. (I clipped that out because I did not feel it's tone was
appropriate, since the post blames most of the former @home users for not
immediately changing the email addresses when the service suddenly died...
which is another story)
Bottom line appears to be that all of the mailing lists will eventually be
on a new server, so we can expect, as the changes are rolled out, to be
renewed as members and have to go adjust our default settings again.

Why am I suddenly getting individual messages when I've
always been in digest mode?
