Hi Bob, Good to hear from you and to see that things are still happening
in DSP-10 world.
I just used mine this week to peak up my recently upgraded EME system (from
3.0 meters to 3.8 meters on 1296) with respect to focus and choke
placement. Using the noise measuring capability in FM mode and long-enough
integrations I'm able to have 0.1 dB visibility into changes. In the end I
was able to measure 10.3 dB sun noise (up from 7.1 dB on the old system).
Most of the difference comes on the quiet measurement with the choke in
place. > 3 dB worth in fact.
I had a couple of additional DSP-10 kits from the days when I was planning
a more comprehensive station based on several DSP-10s. I don't plan that
anymore but did recently sell my last kit (aside from the built one that I
still use) just last month. So there is still interest out there.
On other fronts, I have a friend here locally who is finishing up a novel
about high tech issues in society. He placed his Google-like corporation
out in the "hills west of Corvallis". I perked up: I've been there! (It
was 2006!)
Hope you and yours are doing well. We're breathing a lot of smoke down
here.
