[DSP-10] Info about DSP-10 Kits, PCB and Parts

Hi All -

Yes, a number of the parts are not available from distribution, and hard
to find at all. Without making any promises, let me mention some
ongoing work that might lead to some new life for a DSP-10 like project.

Farhan, VU2ESE, is a skilled RF designer with some DSP experience. He
is exploring hardware for an updated 2-meter DSP project. I am not sure
where he is at on this, but it may lead to good things.

One remaining hardware issue is the EZ-Kit/DSPx, and their poor
availability. To that end, I was steered by KC7WW to PJRC and their
Teensy products
https://www.pjrc.com/store/teensy36.html
The 3.6 runs a ARM Cortex-M4 at 180 MHz and has good DSP capability,
including 32-bit fixed integers and single-precision floating point. I
used this to create an Audio Vector Network Analyzer (coming this spring
in QEX) and that was a pleasant experience. So, I am currently
exploring using the Teensy 3.6 as a replacement for the EZ-Kit. As part
of that, I am putting together a control box that would have a small
graphical touch screen, tuning knob and more of that sort of stuff. It
is not to replace a PC interface, but rather to allow a subset of the
capability to be run stand-alone. It would sorta look like an IC-7000.
More on that, including a link to a schematic, at post #85 on page 4 of
https://forum.pjrc.com/threads/40590-Teensy-Convolution-SDR-(Software-Defined-Radio)

Also check out the interesting DD4WH receiver in that same thread.

The support from PJRC is outstanding, BTW.

We will see where all of this leads.

PS - I hope this isn't posted twice. It is my second try...
