Hi Bob,
I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in (not worth much any more)...
I would love to see the control program for the DSP-10 modernized with
something like QT and improved graphics, along with drop down menus and
ability to easily modify the configuration file without leaving the
program. And if it can run under Linux, that would be frosting on the
cake, so to speak. I guess I'm spoiled by all the modern programs such
as Flex's Power SDR.
I once had thoughts about trying to do a rewrite to do the above, but I
find in my retirement (like most others do), I just don't have time to
devote to such a huge undertaking (it would involve some steep learning
curves for me even though I'm familiar with assembly and C).
Even operating the DSP-10 for awhile, I still find it somewhat difficult
(or more to the point: awkward) to perform the keyboard commands, even
with the nice two page cramped cheat sheet. It becomes a little easier
after becoming more familiar with them. And yes, I still have an
ancient laptop (circa 1995) that the present program works on, but I
would not let that even be a consideration with laptops with W7 and up
available 2nd hand pretty cheaply.
