Hi Mike,

Your information will no doubt come in very handy in further shooting of
the troubles. I don't have time right now to pursue, but hope to in the
next weeks.

The numbers found on the bottom:

Type 2668 -CTO S/N L3 - VNHMW 05/17 (or last digit may be a "1")
Product ID 2668 WMY

The T43 designation only appears on the lower right corner of the
cover/screen, below the LCD.

I have gone into the BIOS/info pages and there are no references to the
serial port (as there is with most BIOS's I've worked with).

Will dig into the references you gave (and more) as time permits.
Meanwhile, I've had to go back to my ancient Toshiba (90 MHz Pentium) to
run DSP-10 as K5QNM and myself will be meeting with K5PJR to do some
1296 equipment and antenna tests with his beacon this coming Tuesday.

It is interesting that my little LED RS232 indicator device in the
serial port line shows no lights during XP or DOS operation, but does
light up several when I reboot into Linux. So that might show the port
might be OK, but just not turned on or initialized under XP and DOS.
This T43 also has built-in 56k modem (never used yet, didn't know it was
there). Under XP, the serial port is reported as COM1 in the hardware
section and does not indicate anything wrong with it.

Thanks again for all the pointers. Will let you know if I ever get it
working right.

73,
Don AE5K
