Thanks Bill,
It is good to know how the number of turns effects the inductance. It is
a good rule of thumb
To a first approximation, skipping three turns out of 300 turns (a 1%
turns reduction) will reduce the inductance by double percentage, to a
2% inductance reduction.
L32 is wound with 52 turns, so if I follow the rule above 5 turns would
be approx. 10% turns reduction which would be a 20% inductance reduction
?
Increasing the cutoff frequency by approx. 4.5 % assuming the square root
of LC ?
>From Bob Larkins Sept 1999 QST article
L32 is used as a Low Pass filter with a 28KHz cutoff frequency from my
understanding, I believe is used to prevent the aliasing which would
occur if too high of an IF frequency (exceeding the Nyquist sampling
limit) was passed to the ADC of the DSP. The exact cutoff frequency is
most likely not critical since this would be the -3dB point with a
gradual rolloff.
