Hi All - A note about loops in CW transmission. Today, I was calling a
station on schedule, and not hearing him. I was able easily continue to do
this, while doing other things, by typing
# W7XYZ DE W7PUA [K!#
This sets up a loop with everything inside the loop being sent repeatedly.
Since the last character is ! it effectively breaks the loop and returns the
radio to receive. The next time you transmit it starts at the beginning of
the loop. The net result is that everytime I hit the HOME key it called the
other station and then returned to Receive for me to listen. BTW the square
bracket [ sends the AR "end of transmission."
I have found it convenient to use the ! at the end of all CW transmissions.
This relieves me from keeping track of where the sending of CW from the
keyboard has progressed. As soon as the message has been sent the radio goes
to Receive. Hearing that is a good reminder!
Mor information on the CW special characters is in the User's Manual
