Hello Beb!
First of all; THANK YOU for all your time in the project! The resources
you and the group
have developed as far as the TAPR kit and the information on the web is
great. When the
article was in print I bought the ADSP kit and played with it, but I really
didnt start on the
DSP-10 until I purchased the parts kit in Feb of 2002. I spent about 30
hours on assembling
the board, then put it aside as a major renovation of my house began. Last
week, the middle of
January, I pulled everything out and completed the board and box. Last night
I actually powered
everything up and started the aligment, once I changed #31 and #32 on the P3
of the EZ-Kit....
all voltages look fine, currents as reccommended! This is a fun project; I
didnt use anything
but normal hand tools (ie, no Bridgeport, did not use the SMT air station)
just normal stuff.
For the construction, I opted to place a microphone, headphone jack,
power switch, power indicator
and DSP processor indicator LED on the "front" the unit and the other
connections on the back;
(antenna, tx-out, tx-in, computer DB-9, speaker, ext. 10Mhz, key, and
amplifier phono jack).
The Ez-Lite kit is mounted to it's PCB enclosure with four 4-40 short
standoffs from DB-style connectors
and the supplied 1.00 inch-long threaded stand-offs underneath. I left just
enough wire to remove the
DSP unit with standoffs to the side for access during tuning. With
connectors front and back, it it
much tighter than with just the rear-mounted connecots, but I dont plan to
remove the whole main
board as a normal activity! :*)
I'll let you know how things progress; right now I'm packing for a
two-week vacation and will not
be at it again until February. I really feel that this will be a large help
to my EME efforts. I'll be looking
forward to seeing you at Dayton AND getting this into my 8-yagi array on 2m
this spring - I'll call you
for a sked when I'm ready!
Thanks again for EVERYTHING!
