Hi David,

Congrats on the progress so far. I wonder if you try to run in a DOS box or
have restarted MS-DOS from Windows.
You MUST start the PC in DOS mode (press F8) dureing start-up to enable
starting in DOS.

I hope this will help you further.

73's,

Ton, PA0TBR

Subject: [DSP-10] DSP-10 software loading problem

Hi All

Hardware:
This side is progressing well - the Box drilling is completed and the DSP-10
PCB in a fairly advanced state of assembly with the last lot of of SMD's
ordered and scheduled to arrive 11 Jan 2003.
                                    --------------------------------

Software (part1):
This is where I have a few problems:

I have got to checking out the AD-2181 EZKit-lite (EPROM REV.1.0) - it works
OK with the Demo program "DTMF" after building it within the VisualDSP++
environment, but not having much luck with getting the UHF3 running in
hardware=0 mode. Does the Red light go out when the UHF3 Program has loaded
and running?

My batch file is as follows:

SET TZ=GMT0
EZFAST 1 UHF3.EXE G
UHFA 1

There is a snag when loading the prog via EZFAST loader, it hits a problem
(or two) and shows the following screen (s):

****************************************************************************

Moon and Sun data unavailable, needs 'SET TZ=PST8', etc.
Computer time=Thu Jan 02 15:40:11 2003
big_area_ptr2 = 5BCA:0004
power10[]     =6800:0004
pwrdat[]       =6881:0004
dnorm[]       =6983:0004
lt_dnorm     =6A85:0004
lt_pwrdat    =6B06:0004
pd16[]        =6B87:0004
Heap is verified

Downloading DSP pointers...

Graphics driver= 9, Mode 2
Graphresult= 0, Hit 'Enter' to proceed

Graphics is EGAVGA, Mode 2, 640 x 480
Bottom image size (170 lines worth) is 43526 bytes

Graphresult= 0

Hit 'Enter' (with Scroll Lock off) to proceed.
Any other key will give 'key ident' for uhfa_kbd_h.
Exit program with Scroll Lock Alt F4. See Readme
file for list of keyboard commands. No mouse is used.

Following from this the Blue screen comes up and the PC program UHFA.exe
seems to run OK but there is no evidence of any communication with the DSP
board. - in fact the red light on the board has continued to flash since it
was first reset (prior to loading).

I reached the conclusion that for some reason the UHF3 program has not
loaded and is not running.
        `                                ------------------------

Software (Part 2)
I therefore decided to try loading via the VisualDSP++ (vers 2) window.
This didn't work either. The elf loader clearly expected a *.dxe file.
Rather than try to start a new project and build a new file I tried to load
the available *.exe file. But the system didn't like that and it put out a
message:

Loading "c:\DSP10\uhf3.exe"
Error getting elf descriptor of file "c:\DSP10\uhf3.exe"
Check for non elf or zero byte file
Load failed

It would appear that the later release of the VisualDSP++ works with
slightly different files than the previous one and I will probably have to
build a new *.dxe file?
                                        ------------------------

Rather than read the large pile of paper I seem to have accumulated once
again, I wondered if any of you more experienced builders could tell me
what I am doing wrong?
