Hi All,

I am going to be running a 2-meter beacon for two weeks or more, starting
today. This is being done to explore propagation between Corvallis, OR and
the Puget Sound area. Beb, W7SLB, Ernie, W7LHL and possibly others are going
to record the signal strength and Doppler characteristics.

I'm sending this to the NW VHF group to let others listen to the signal for
general interest and also as a frequency standard.

I'm sending this to the DSP-10 group, to introduce a collection of
"propagation study" features that will be available soon for the radio. This
includes the ability to save the LTI trace to disk and have automatic
clearing, beacon transmission and related items.

Frequency: 144.282000 MHz
Accuracy: Better than 0.1 Hz as transmitted
Power: 5 Watts at the antenna
Antenna: 4x12 K1FO Yagi
Terrain: Not great, 4 deg takeoff angle
Antenna Az: 18 deg true
Transmission: 50 sec key down, ID in CW
                "W7PUA/B CN84io"

Please send along any reception reports.

Also, this frequency is about 500 Hz below the KJ6KO beacon, allowing both
to be "seen" at the same time. I don't think this will interfere with
Gregg's beacon. If it does for anyone, please let me know and I will shift
the frequency to prevent interference.

Bob W7PUA
