I built the Shera Standard with a HP 10544A oven about a year and a half ago.
(see my web
site http://home.teleport.com/~rewing/10mhz_construction.htm and
related pages on the site. )
and total cost runs about the same, with the Shera standard probably
costing slightly more. If I had known about the HP Z3801A I would have
gone that route.
I have provided a lot of information on parts and the building process on
the web site. There is a lot of work and tweaking to get it all done
right. The HP is a much easier route and leaves you with time for the next
project. I am very happy with the Shera standard and would not replace it,
but it was a REAL PROJECT!!!! My idea is why reinvent the wheel if a wheel
already exists and you wheel will cost more.
